Why we built this
Group bills always seem simple until one person puts down their card and everyone else has to figure out what they owe.
Someone had drinks. Someone only ordered an appetizer. Someone shared fries. Someone else needs to account for tax, tip, and fees. Before long, the “just Venmo me later” plan turns into receipt screenshots, notes app math, and a few totals that don’t quite match.
BillSplitterApp was built for that exact moment.
The goal is simple: make it easy to split a receipt fairly without turning dinner into an accounting project. Everyone claims what they ordered, the shared costs are handled cleanly, and the person who paid can get reimbursed without chasing down fuzzy estimates.
How BillSplitterApp is different
Most bill splitting still happens the hard way.
Someone sends a receipt photo, circles a few items, does the math manually, and then asks everyone to send what they think they owe. That can work when the bill is simple, but it gets messy fast when orders are different sizes or when tax, tip, and fees need to be divided fairly.
BillSplitterApp is built around itemized claiming.
One person creates the bill and shares a private link. Friends open the link, select the items they ordered, and BillSplitterApp calculates each person’s total, including their proportional share of tax, tip, and any added fees.
There are no accounts, no app downloads, and no group spreadsheet. Just a link, a receipt, and a clearer way to settle up.
Who runs BillSplitterApp
BillSplitterApp is an independent project built and maintained by a small team based in the US Midwest. It started after one too many group dinners ended in a messy split, a missing $8, and a vague Venmo note nobody could decipher a week later.
It is not a bank, a payment processor, or a financial services company. It does not move money, hold money, or store payment credentials. It is a simple utility for making the math easier before people pay each other back through the apps they already use.

What this is and what it isn't
